Easy Aglaonema Plant Care
Updated: Oct 25, 2021
At Savannah Interior Plant Designs, we love using the Aglaonema, commonly referred to as “Chinese Evergreen.” This plant is not only easy to care for, it can be effortlessly incorporated into various plant designs.
Aglaonema can thrive in a multitude of environments as long as it is not in direct sunlight. While they do prefer bright, indirect light, they can adjust to a low-light space. Aglaonemas require little water and prefer well-draining soil. The lower the light of the area, the more you want your aglaonema to dry out between watering. Make sure to always check the moisture level of the soil before watering because too much water can cause various problems, such as root rot and fungus. During the months of May through September, a weak solution of a water-soluble fertilizer can be used once monthly to maintain the plant’s lush foliage.
Since aglaonema prefer indirect, they are primarily used indoors. This allows them to be combined with a variety of houseplants such as spathiphyllum or spider plant. Aglaonema also comes in many varieties, with splash and streak-like patterns in colors of dark and light green, white, and pink. You could have a whole space of aglaonema and each be unique with its color and texture.
